Ride the Ridge
Thursday: D5.  A Little international travel to Switzerland.  42 miles, 3000' up, 3300' down. 
Our shortest day features a bit of climb and marks the first day with more down than up! See the most photographed slice of American road and bike it too! Three breaks including a restaurant lunch. An Afternoon in the Museum and we end a short day on the bike.

An Awesome Week on a Bicycle!
Rides
Friday: D6.  Mount Mitchell Option.  Asheville, NC.  75 miles, 9300' up, 7800' down.
After 21 miles of climbing, stop and choose. An optional up and down to Mount Mitchell, the highest peak in the eastern United States, awaits. The climb is the steepest the BRP has to offer, and the descent is steep enough to require that you stop and cool your bicycle brakes on the way down.
After that choice, a restaurant lunch awaits followed by a nice descent around Asheville. At some point, the road starts points up introducing 25 miles of climbing to your overnight accommodations. Our last night on the Parkway together promises to be truly extrordinary.
Saturday: D7.  Up and Down, Down, Down.  61 mi, 6200' up/8900' down.
All good things must come to an end sometime, and the BRP ends with a flourish.
Four breaks precede our climbing and descending approach to lunch at the Waterrock Knob Visitors Center. Sandwiches on spec. From there a decent descent to 1000' of climb and then all down hill to the end of the Parkway. There we visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park's Oconoluftee Visitors Center as we collect ourselves and pack up the bicycles. From there we will either head to Cherokee, NC or Gatlinburg, TN for dinner together without the prospect of a day on a bike ahead. Relax a bit and enjoy one of these two tourism destinations.
Sunday: D8.  Rewind.  335 mi, up and down matters not!
Breakfast followed by a shuttle back to Waynesboro, NC where you pick up your cars and head home with toned, perhaps sore muscles and memories to last a lifetime.
